Lifted your truck? Your driveshaft noticed.
A lift changes your driveshaft's length and the angle it runs at. A stock shaft that was fine at factory height can start to vibrate, bind or pull its slip yoke too far out, and u-joints start wearing out fast. Lifts of about 2 inches or more on many trucks and Jeeps are where this usually shows up.
4x4 driveshaft styles we build
- CV double cardan: two u-joints at the transfer case end split the angle, so a lifted truck runs at steep angles without vibration. It's the standard fix for lift-kit vibration.
- Spline & slip (long-travel): the slip is built into the shaft, so the driveshaft can grow and shrink as the suspension moves. Good for long-travel and flex builds.
- Transfer case slip yoke / SYE: replaces the factory slip yoke setup with a fixed output and a shaft that handles its own slip. Common on Jeep TJ and XJ builds.
- Front and rear, in 1310, 1330, GM 3R, 7260, 7290, 1350, 1410, 1480 and 1550 series, with heavy-wall steel tubing in a range of diameters.
Trucks and Jeeps we build for
Jeep: Wrangler YJ, TJ, JK, JL, Gladiator JT, Cherokee XJ, Grand Cherokee. Ford: F-150, F-250 and F-350 Super Duty, Bronco, Ranger. Chevy / GMC: Silverado, Sierra 1500, 2500HD and 3500HD, Colorado, Tahoe, Yukon. Ram: 1500, 2500, 3500. Toyota: Tacoma, Tundra, 4Runner. We also build for Duramax, Power Stroke and Cummins diesels, snow plow and work trucks.
Built for Oklahoma red dirt and the highway home
Off-road shafts take hits from rocks, mud and big tires, then have to run smooth at 70 mph on I-35. Every 4x4 shaft we build is welded, balanced and inspected for both jobs.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a new driveshaft after a lift kit?
Often, yes. Many trucks and Jeeps start vibrating after a lift of about 2 inches or more because of the change in length and angle. A CV double cardan shaft, lengthened slip, or slip yoke eliminator usually fixes it.
What is a CV (double cardan) driveshaft?
A CV driveshaft uses two u-joints joined by a centering yoke at one end. Splitting the operating angle between two joints lets the shaft run smoothly at the steeper angles of a lifted vehicle.
Why does my front driveshaft click or bind?
Common causes are a worn CV centering ball, dry u-joints, or a slip that's running out of travel after a lift. We can inspect and rebuild it, or build a new long-travel shaft.
Can you build 1350 or 1410 shafts for my Jeep?
Yes. We build custom front and rear Jeep shafts in upgraded u-joint series for big tires, lockers and heavy wheeling.
Do you build driveshafts for diesel trucks?
Yes. We build custom heavy-duty driveshafts for Duramax, Power Stroke and Cummins trucks, including two-piece shafts with center support bearings.
